The annual Quality of Life Road Trip takes teens living in poverty and public housing across—and outside—the U.S. and to meet leaders in business, education and community.
In 2016, this month-long, privately-funded, summer travel program included 18 participants who traveled 32 days by van, visiting 29 cities in 2 countries, including Atlanta, Chicago, Houston, New Orleans, New York, Philadelphia, Washington, D.C. and Toronto, Canada. For most participants, they were the first in their families to have a passport. Read about the trip and hands-on education through 40 Life-Changing Questions that we asked participants in our pre/post-trip survey.
In 2017, we have hosted several “Road Trips”:
- January at Afrikan Black Coalition Conference—the only high school attendees at this annual gathering of 700 college students;
- February at Standing Rock—to learn how a community can find its voice and speak for individual rights;
- July in Cuba—to learn about intercultural poverty.
This unique program is funded entirely by private contributions. Please consider a donation today.
